Litigation Paralegal/Legal Secretary Supervisor

Location: Southfield, MI (Onsite)

Position Summary

A growing legal organization is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal Supervisor to lead and support a team of litigation paralegals. This role oversees daily operations, workflow management, and quality execution across pre- and post-judgment litigation matters. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong litigation knowledge, supervisory experience, and the ability to align team performance with attorney and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of litigation paralegals and legal support staff
  • Manage workloads, scheduling, productivity, and coverage
  • Serve as a liaison between attorneys, paralegals, and management
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback
  • Assist with escalated pre- and post-judgment matters as needed

Case Management & Operations

  • Oversee a portfolio of litigation matters from initiation through resolution
  • Monitor deadlines, court requirements, and litigation milestones
  • Rebalance workloads proactively to prevent delays or bottlenecks
  • Maintain current knowledge of court rules and procedures and communicate updates

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to litigation procedures, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
  • Conduct file reviews and audits to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Identify process gaps and implement improvements

Strategic Support

  • Partner with attorneys and leadership on workflow improvements and operational initiatives
  • Support department goals, metrics, and continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of litigation paralegal experience in a high-volume or complex environment
  • 4-7 years of supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Background in collections or creditor-side litigation strongly preferred
  • Paralegal certificate and/or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and court rules
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, document management systems, and litigation case management software (CLS preferred)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
